Buon giorno! I am now working in Italy until about mid-August. There is a research group here who has a GPS network in Antarctica just to the north of ours. The purpose of my time here is to jointly process our two networks, and interpret horizontal bedrock motion patterns related to the rifting and faulting in the region. Italy is beautiful! My apartment is great, and has a fantastic location. Just outside my door is the Piazza Grande. The architecture is stunning, there are fresh markets every morning, people socializing, riding bikes, people playing the accordion. It’s like just out of a movie. This is a photo of the duomo (the white church on the left, not all of it is shown, including the large tower) where I sit on the steps and use the internet. Wireless service is provided by the city for free (other than an initial charge of 1.5 Euro for a username and password.)
